The theory is that eating in this way will push one’s metabolism into “ketosis,” causing the body to burn fat as its primary energy source. Fans of this diet claim that this metabolic state can help with weight loss, focus, and overall health.
With its recent gains in population, it may feel as if Keto is a relatively new trend; however, this method of eating is recorded to have been around since the 1920s, when doctors are said to have prescribed it as an epilepsy treatment (which some still do today).
