Bookstore Romance Day

By Candice Chaplin | July 9 2019 | FictionHolidays

The first annual Bookstore Romance Day is 8/17/19. “As independent bookstores continue to work to deepen their ties with romance readers, a group of enthusiast booksellers has announced the first Bookstore Romance Day to be held on August 17, 2019. Organizers have billed the event as a “soft launch” for what they intend to be an annual celebration of romance books by independent bookstores nationwide” (Publishers Weekly). PW also reports that the popularity of recent rom-com screen adaptations suggests a desire for funny, sweet stories that end in a happily ever after. With 61% of Romance books still being purchased in the physical format (according to Nielsen’s US Romance Landscape report), Romance is a great category for booksellers to be focusing on. This list features our best in category titles, from genre series titles to fiction with romance at its heart.

Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles.
