Young readers will love to explore the rain forest with this interactive book, which includes a UV flashlight and hidden animals to discover on every page!

Children can dim the lights and explore the Amazon rain forest with Clara and her dog, Sparks, in this interactive book, which comes with a UV flashlight to use to find hidden animals on every page! This journey through the rain forest includes fun facts about the animals that live there, such as tapirs, monkeys, sloths, and jaguars, as well as a number of birds and butterflies, from the snowy egret to the blue morpho. This is the ideal nonfiction book for budding nature enthusiasts.

Gr 2-4–Although there is solid information on every page of this field guide to the rain forest for elementary age explorers, there are some animals printed in ink undetectable to the eye without the help of the included UV flashlight, complete with batteries. It nestles into the corner of the book, ready to shine on the page, and the cool factor is obvious, say, when more pink river dolphins come into view or an array of blue morpho butterflies appears. It’s pretty clear that this would not stand up to wide circulation. VERDICT A nice guide to keep at the desk or to use in school rooms. --School Library Journal
